#BiennaleArchitettura16: Jaeeun-Choi & Shigeru Ban

// Among the hundreds of projects shown at the biennale, we'll take a look at Dreaming of Earth, the proposal by artist Jaeeun-Choi and architect Shigeru Ban for the Demilitarized Zone between the two Koreas. [Read the English text after the Spanish version]

What’s there to be afraid of!
We have light,
we have water,
and the wind is blowing!

Un largo pergamino / A long paper scroll

At the Arsenale, in one of the complex's small buildings, one you walk into directly from the outside, in this edition of the Biennale, there is a hall that is practically dark. This room holds the proposals presented by Atelier Peter Zumthor & Partner and the project Dreaming of Earth by Choi-Ban. Both share—we don't know if on purpose or not—a layout that is somewhat entrancing: a dark, enveloping atmosphere that contrasts with Venice's bright light, the disappearing presence of the black metal objects, the soft lighting of the pastel color degradation of the textiles that is part of Zumthor's installation and the dramatic chiaroscuros of the bamboos that make up Choi's and Ban's, the display cabinets with their perfectly silhouetted lighting, the glow of some audiovisuals in the background, music (if our memory doesn't fail us, birds chirping?), the sinuous shapes. So much so that if you are in a hurry, you might think they are both part of the same thing. However, there is a point in the hall where you begin to feel earth under your feet: this is where Dreaming of Earth begins with these words:
What’s there to be afraid of!
We have light,
we have water,

and the wind is blowing!
Maqueta y objetos en la vitrina // Model and objects in the display cabinet
Korean born Jaeeun-Choi is an artist. Her hope is that, one day, the two Koreas will be reunited. This is why, for some time, she has been working on this visionary proposal for the DMZ between the North and the South—a territory that is four kilometers wide and 240 kilometers long which serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea and that, technically, is a war zone. In essence, the proposal is an elevated walkway, a bridge for the use of the citizens of both countries to travel the path of a much-desired reconciliation. The idea of a raised path goes beyond mere formal issues. On the one hand it crosses over a field that is filled with landmines, and on the other, the artist highlights the need to preserve the rich wildlife that has found this zone a propitious habitat—decades of conflict and the absence of human beings have turned it into a natural reserve of high environmental value—and to do so she was committed to using construction systems that did not require any chemical methods. Jaeeun-Choi contacted Shigeru Ban to help her with the design. He proposed the use of structural bamboo to overcome both of these challenges: it does not require the use of concrete for foundations and creates a structure that floats well above the danger of the mines. It is interesting to see how the authorship of the proposal becomes one for this artist-architect duo, in which the hope, the idea and the proposal are all assembled and made coherent by their four hands.

At the Biennale, the project is shown through a huge, 1:200 model of the intervention placed among real sized bamboos. Next to it are a series of display cabinets that hold information regarding the DMZ, samples of the wire fence and the entire proposal carefully presented and drawn on a long paper scroll, including its construction details. Four audiovisuals and projects that are also part of the piece complete the display with recordings, images of "ecological landscapes" (as they called them), and archive material that illustrate multiple aspects of the relationship between North and South Korea.
Detalle del pergamino: sección // Detail of the scroll: section
There is something very moving about this proposal: the complexity of the geopolitical situation and the simplicity of the solution, the harshness of the minefield and the lightness of floating bamboo, humanity and wildlife, war and gardens... a series of contradictions and extremes that make us join Jaeeun-Choi in her wish and lead us to think that our proposals, wherever they might be, should always be committed to coming together.

#BiennaleArchitettura16: en: & The Yokohama Apartment

De México nos vamos a Japón // We continue sharing the notes from our stroll through the Venice Bienale. From Mexico we travel to Japan [Read the English text after the Spanish version]

Curioseando por Japón // Wandering through Japan

en: art of nexus.

Erika y la maqueta // Erika and the model
The Yokohama Project. Osamu Nishida + Erika Nakagawa

La maqueta y el suelo // The model and the floor

When you visit a national pavilion there are two levels of engagement with its content. On the one hand there is the general view of what the country has to show, which depends on the curatorial discourse and the relationships established between the projects. On the other hand you get to know specific proposals, those that call your attention. This post will give a general introduction to the Japanese pavilion and then we will comment on our encounter with one of the projects shown: The Yokohama Apartment.

en: art of nexus. Pabellón de Japón. 15 Muestra Internacional de Arquitectura de la Bienal de Venecia
Japan, curated by Yoshiyuki Yamana and awarded with a mention in this edition of the Bienale, has called its pavilion "en: art of nexus". "En" is the short form of the word "engawa", a concept that comes from the traditional Japanese home that speaks of the inexistence of a limit between what is inside and what is outside and refers specifically to the intermediate space in which family members usually gathered to discuss issues. A space which, according to the curator, was forgotten by modernism. In this way he creates a link with the pavilion's content in the previous biennale—which focused on the modernist experience in Japan—in order to put some distance between both discourses.

"[this exhibition] does not attempt to formulate a vehicle, such as that seen in Modernism, based on a big narrative or some kind of slogan. Instead, it will examine a variety of aspects of individual struggles in the fight against the conditions and issues that we are currently confronting"
La maqueta y el pabellón // The model and the pavillion
Hence, in contemporary Japan, with a stagnant economy that is a far cry from the post-war boom years, the curator focuses on the work that young architects are carrying out nowadays. The result is a pavilion that is full, literally, of architecture, with large models as the main features of a narrative that underlines the issue of collective housing through 12 proposals, each one  represented with its own specific medium, in accordance with their different natures.
"While the notion of a happy family life in the city, created by the modern state, has collapsed, a new community, based on “sharing” (values, lifestyles, etc.) has appeared in its place. How is our architecture changing to fit this new era? And where is our architecture headed?"
The Yokohama Project by Osamu Nishida and Erika Nakagawa is among these twelve proposals. We thought it was great that on the day we visited the pavilion the architects and authors of these proposals stood next to their projects, willing to chat with those of us interested in them. This level of closeness places the projects and their authors as the main characters or the show, and it allows you to get to know the architecture on display in a more personal way. Erika Nakagawa was there and we talked to her.

The Yokohama Project. Osamu Nishida + Erika Nakagawa
A huge, free-standing model placed directly on the floor—this surface becoming part of the model— and a large picture of the open space of the ground floor of the proposal placed on a wall next to it, are the materials with which this project is shown. Erika Nagawaga was standing next to the picture, watching all of the people who, like us, peered at a model that was full of details. Some children crawled on the floor and played with the model, which made us, the adults, want to do the same.

La maqueta y lo cotidiano // The model and the everyday
The proposal, from 2009, is a compact, rental apartment building located on the outskirts of Yokohama, in a humble neighborhood. At first it was conceived to house young artists " to live, create, and exhibit their work in a vivid manner", but nowadays a "single mother and a student" also live there.

The curator introduces this project reminding us that the model modern family of 4 (2 parents and 2 children), no longer exists in Japan, so, the Yokohama apartment is a proposal that creates minimum-sized apartment units "a group of individual rooms" that are elevated on four triangular pillars above a double-height "open space". The stairs that provide access to the dwellings rise from this space and wind around the pillars, which in turn hold storage areas on the ground floor "making each resident's possessions and part of their daily lives overflow into the open space."

But there is more to this open space. It is not only a meeting space or the place that hosts the social life of those who live in the building, it opens up completely onto the street and "can also be used to hold events by non-residents". The space symbolizes and holds the future of the building itself. There "once a month, the residents, owners, and architects gather to discuss various aspects related to managing the open space such as organizing events, cleaning and maintenance".

The project is beautiful. Its beauty comes naturally: its scale, materiality (it is made entirely of wood), and the common, shared space that hybrids public space, political space and intimate space that, in the end, exudes optimism. The model is also beautiful: beautiful and honest. An honesty that lies in its faithful representation of the everyday and of lived-in architecture.

Del pabellón británico // from the British pavilion: "own nothing, share everything"
Housing, especially collective housing, is one of the fronts that architecture must deal with. The British Home Economics pavilion also focuses on inhabitation, although from a completely different approach. Both the Japanese and British pavilion are at the Giardini, very close to each other. Both are worth a visit.

This project might be in Japan, and even if the curator shows it as an example of a contemporary engawa in which the people of the surroundings are invited to come and debate, we can also find similarities in a closer context, in Andalusia. Is it not somewhat like the spaces and ways of life of a "patio de vecinos"? We are sure that it shares traits with many other ways of inhabitation, its spatial expressions and the way it is collectively used. This makes it universal.

Congratulations to the entire Japanese team. All the info regarding the pavilion can be found online (in Japanese except the opening statement, which is also en English). And especially we would like to congratulate Osamu and Erika, whom se send greeting to from here if she reads us!

#BiennaleArchitettura16: México

"No serán proyectos espectaculares pero si proyectos útiles" [Read the English text after the Spanish version]

"They might not be spectacular projects, but they are useful projects"

México - Venezia

With these words the veteran Mexican architect Valeria Prieto, with a group of young Mexican architects at her side—all of which have works on display, described the content of her country's pavilion. Her words made the party break out in applause and hurrahs, and glasses were raised to cheer for this pavilion.

The days that precede the inauguration of the Venice Biennale are a party. To the non-stop visits to the multiple exhibitions, we must add inaugural events, national celebrations and spontaneous encounters with colleagues and friends. This year we were there as guests, and of those couple of days we would like to share a selection of contents of what we saw and called our attention (to clarify: it is impossible to see it all, and impossible not to be partial.) We begin this series with Mexico's pavilion.

Unfoldings and Assemblages. Mexican Pavilion. 15 Mostra Internazionale di Architettura. La Biennale di Venezia

Unfoldings and Assemblages is the title given to this pavilion, commissioned to the architect Margarita Segarra and curated by the anthropologist Pablo Landa. It is within the Sale d'armi of the Arsenale, one of the buildings that you reach once you've gone through the Corderie—this year after passing by 75 individual proposals.

The Mexican pavilion is a collective show of 33 projects and 3 documentaries displayed under the concept "Spaces of correspondence". This is how they research into the "idea of what is social, the importance of participation and of the community". Concepts, as the curator highlights, that have a long-running tradition in Mexico.
"Architecture does not solve social problemas. People working together solve social problems"
The inside story of this pavilion is nice. All of the projects were sought out through this open call, in this way the scientific committee encountered projects that they did not even know about. It is praiseworthy that the final curatorial guideline was established by these contents and conversations held with those who submitted their work. Of the 207 proposals received, 31 were selected and 87 more were added to create a digital archive. The result is a coherent group of projects that give a panoramic view of the situation, distributed homogenously throughout the country, ranging from urban to rural contexts and with participants of all generations. Everyone, including the curatorship and those involved in the exhibition design, tackle the issue of what is shared and common.
"Blueprints are the secret language of technicians. Which instruments and technologies might bring broader publics together?"
Manual
The materials on display, models, tools, photos, plans, manuals, are diverse, in accordance with the projects, and they are all set on tables were they can be consulted: "Mexico's proposal in Venice presents works and experiences that produce and disseminate shared knowledge". The exhibition is subdivided into 7 units that group together specific approaches. One of the most noteworthy aspects is the work developed by various teams involving manuals—used traditionally in Mexico— and how these are interpreted, or specific proposals such as Pabellón Cultural Migrante (Tuux Conaculta migrantes) or Mujeres de Arcilla (Arquitectos Artesanos Parroquia y mujeres de san Miguel Amatitlán). Other units, under the intriguing names of "All housing in Mexico is incremental" or "Community organizing is also architecture", include equally interesting projects. These two units are, in themselves, manifestos.
"Successful works of architecture do not depend upon the continuing presence of architects. Self-building manuals disseminate knowledge for self-management"
Besides gathering all of the information regarding the projects shown, the pavilion catalogue includes a chapter of "dialogues". These dialogues are a selection of the work carried out by the curator and members of his team in their visits to the 31 selected teams, with interviews, work sessions and even events open to the general public. Hence "They held dialogues on the social dimensions of architecture with two objectives: to set the groundwork for the pavilion's design, and to begin a national conversation on the themes of the 2016 Biennale". A reading of these dialogues illustrates the intensity of the reflections of the teams involved and the gravity of the issues at stake, to the extent of showing how they themselves question and are critical of the issues they are talking about. Besides this, these conversations give sense and a local participatory scale to what Mexico shows in this distant, international event.
"Success stories are good. Systems for the multiplication of success stories are better"
Another pavilion that deals with and shows comparable issues and projects is Venezuela's Urban-Forces, which is also worth visiting.

Seen from this side of the Atlantic, from Spain, where our lack of experience regarding the matters that the Mexican pavilion tackles is patent, and where, even though some signs exist, as a society we still lack a culture of participation, and as architects we are far from taking on roles that Mexico shows us, it is worth visiting this pavilion if you go to the Biennale, studying its content and paying attention to the rich architectural and civic culture that our colleagues from the other side of the Atlantic have to show us.
Paraphrasing Valeria Prieto's words we can conclude that this is not a spectacular pavilion, but that it is a useful one. Our congratulations to the entire team. We encourage them to begin digital phase of this proposal and to share the content of their pavilion online.

Biennale architettura Venezia 2014 (III): Absorbing Modernity 1914-2014

¿Cómo se muestra la arquitectura? / How is architecture shown?
Hoy: "diversión en los pabellones nacionales" / We wrap up our stroll through the Biennale Architetttura Venezia 2014. Today is the turn for "fun at the national pavilions"

With this third post we finish our very personal report after visiting the Venice Architecture Bienale (you can read the first post, about Elements, here, and the second, about Monditalia, here). The national pavilions were commissioned by Rem Koolhaas to work under the title "Absorbing Modernity 1914-2014" Their brief was:
"Absorbing Modernity 1914-2014" / National Pavilions
For the first time, the national pavilions are invited to respond to a single theme… 65 countries – in the Giardini, at the Arsenale and elsewhere in the city – examine key moments from a century of modernization. Together, the presentations start to reveal how diverse material cultures and political environments transformed a generic modernity into a specific one. Participating countries show, each in their own way, a radical splintering of modernities in a century where the homogenizing process of globalization appeared to be the master narrative…

It was impossible for us to visit all the pavilions and as you can imagine, there is a degree of randomness in this post. It is worth pointing out that, from what we saw, it was hard to discern a common theme. So, this time around we will share three glimpses based on amusement, fragments of contents belonging to pavilions in which we had a little fun.

So, if our key word is amusement, our first remarks have to go to the Swiss pavilion, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist under the title  "Lucius Burckhardt and Cedric Price – A stroll through a fun palace". The pavilion's empty space is the setting for a series of happenings that take place in real time.Carts are flung with boxes that contain copies of projects from Cedric Price's archive, papers you can touch, designs you can request to see or others that are shown randomly—like the surprising design for a cattle farm— and then taken away while the space darkens and a performance (see video) involving chanting and light projections takes place using the model of the Fun Palace as a sacred object that is ritualistically worshiped. We quite enjoyed this! In another space other objects appear and disappear, these relating to Lucius Burckhardt. It was really nice to get to know his work a little better. There are more surprises throughout the pavilion, work by artists and architects belonging to Obrist's circle, a global network built on friendship and fun, or that is what we like to think. Other activities and talks take place too, which complement the exhibit. All in all, it is a sort of creative mash-up with a performative twist which makes us reflect upon the idea of how architecture is shown and how these events come about.
"It's modern, everyting is connected"
Dibujo y humor / Drawing and humor
We were also amused by the large model of the "modern" house that appears—as one more character— in Jaque Tati's film Mon Oncle, shown in the French pavilion under the title ‘‘Modernity, a Promise or Threat?’’ and organized by Jean-Louis Cohen. Each of the rooms of this pavilion is and in-depth review of specific case studies involving the tragic role of modern, post-war architecture in the construction of alienating urban and built environments. The model is placed, as a prologue to these bleak stories, in the first and central space, under the title "Jacques Tati and the Arpel Villa, object of desire or a ridiculous machine?". Along with the model, scenes from the film are shown on large screens, and as an added treat, there are some really nice original drawings of the house's designs: the general plans as well as details of the fountain, topiaries, the house's "eyes", etc. These lively sketches convey the designer's excitement and happiness, making us smile and ask ourselves, once again, what went so wrong with modern architecture, when did it loose all of its hope and creativity and why did it disregard all aspects of affectivity, including a certain sense of humor, when it came to designing.

Urban Frottage: Calcando  / Tracing
Texturas del pavimento / Textures of the pavement
To finish this short report, we would like to mention the Japanese pavilion "A Storehouse of Contemporary Architecture" curated by Kayoko Ota. There was a lot to touch. move, displace. The place was full of stuff, and as occurs in a flea market, one had to rummage, which is always an adventuresome activity. To find the drawings by Tomoharu Makabe who traces the textures of floors inevitably takes one back to happier childhood times.

El árbol ya no está / The tree is now gone
However, we all know that not all in life is fun and games, and there has to be room for sadness. One of the grand trees around which  one of the Giardini's most beautiful buildings was build, the Nordic Pavilion, is now gone. That plane tree and the way it was integrated into the porch structure of Sverre Fehn's 1962 design is one of those images instilled in all of our minds, an image that for many of us revealed a sense of hope for modern architecture in particular and for our discipline in general , and how, at its best, it was capable of richly relating and absorbing—to use the term Koolhaas formulated for this biennale— the complexity of its environment, constructing spaces both beautiful and charged with meaning. We should not let sadness overcome us: the space left by the tree should remind us architects—beyond biennales and events— of the everyday, down-to-earth goals and responsibilities of our profession.

¡Adiós Bienal adiós! / Bye, bye Biennale!

Biennale architettura Venezia 2014 (II): Monditalia

Luminaire

Hoy toca Monditalia

Second post about our stroll through the Biennale architettura Venezia 2014. Today is Monditalia's turn

Monditalia is the third of the main components conceived by Rem Koolhaas for this edition of the Bienale—along with Elements of Architecture [click here to read our post about it] and the theme "Absorbing Modernity 1914-2014" which was interpreted in each of the national pavilions.

Esta es la descripción oficial / This is the official excerpt about the show:
"Monditalia / Arsenale: Also for the first time, Venice’s other biennales and festivals – Dance, Music, Theatre, Film – collaborate with architecture…
In a moment of crucial political change, we decided to look at Italy as a “fundamental” country, completely unique but also emblematic of a global situation where many countries are balancing between chaos and a realization of their full potential. The Arsenale presents a scan of Italy, established by 82 films, 41 architectural projects, and a merger of architecture with la biennale’s dance, music, theatre, and film sections. Each project in Monditalia concerns unique and specific conditions but together form a comprehensive portrait of the host country"
[source: http://www.labiennale.org/en/architecture/exhibition/14iae/]
We spent an entire Saturday afternoon at this exhibition, which occupies the elongated space of Arsenale's Corderie —in itself a wonder. Monditalia is a polyphonic show. Briefly, this fascinating space is divided longitudinally, to one side are the selected 41 research projects, placed one after another in the shape of small stands or installations which, in general, are easy to grasp, to the other side there is a collection of fragments of Italian films. Every once in a while there is an element in the center where the two longitudinal itineraries—movies and projects— crisscross and even alternate. This central element can be a structure for other activities such as dance and theatre shows or a space for a project that needs more room. We had no time to see any of the films, and we barely had time to scan over the projects—a term used by the show as you walk in—taking in some more than others.
"Favoritos @monditalia : 11 La maddalena 18 Assisi Laboratorio 20 Ground floor crisis 30 Radical pedagogies 36 Sales oddity 39 Italian limes"
In this post we would like to share our thoughts on a very limited selection of seven research projects, those that called our attention, warning in advance that we have surely left out some very interesting proposals and that this selection is merely a reflection of our personal ambles during that surprisingly rainy and stormy Saturday afternoon in July. For starters, we would like to share a couple of thoughts we tweeted that day, one as we walked in and one as we left. The latter already expressed a selection. Now, after the ensuing months, we have thought it best to adhere to the brevity of a tweet and we have decided to talk about those same projects, adding some extra information about each, like official excerpts from the show and short paragraphs that reflect our recollections and the thoughts that still lurk in our memories. These were the tweets (translated):
"Saturday afternoon @monditalia @la_Biennale Entering we are received by fragments of Siena's The Allegory of Good and Bad government"
"Favorites @monditalia : 11 La maddalena 18 Assisi Laboratorio 20 Ground floor crisis 30 Radical pedagogies 36 Sales oddity 39 Italian limes"
Nuestra selección / Our selection:

Luminaire.
Luminaire. OMA in collaboration with Swarovski. The entry gate is beautiful. Those of us from Andalusia cannot help but think of the gates that lead into our fair grounds, although this one is more elegant in design and composition. Needless to say it also reminded us of images from the best of Italian cinema, with its nostalgic twist, and of course of the Parisian electricity pavilion. The dimly-lit atmosphere of the vestibule, dotted with the shine of hundreds of light bulbs is a nicely festive spatial experience. Perpendicular to this gate and to its two sides, two reproductions of The Allegory of Good and Bad government envelop the visitor—it is always good to keep these paintings in mind.

La Maddalena [ video ]. Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine. 41° 12’ 53’’ N / 09° 24’ 21’’ E

A double projection that does not leave anybody indifferent: to one side a Robinson Crusoe type who lives on an island and creates sculptures, furniture, etc, with debris retrieved from the sea; to the other side Stefano Boeri walks through and talks about the ruins of the building he designed and was never finished for the G8 summit in 2009, precisely in an emotionally charged place for the architect—the island were his mother worked as an architect. During the stroll the details of this abandoned and contradictory project are revealed and aspects about the architect's role in the process are pointed out.

Assisi Laboratory [ video ] AMO, Giampiero Mariottini, Marco Sammicheli 43° 04’ 26’’ N / 12° 36’ 25’’ E

How does one understand Assisi, a small town of 28,000 inhabitants that receives 6 million pilgrimming tourists a year? This project shows a series of four short interviews to four men that serve as guardians of the Saint Francis of Assisi Basilica, the epicenter of all touristic activities. The sequence of interviews spells out some interesting thoughts about the fascinating contemporary phenomenon of tourism, mixed in this case with religion, an alliance that reminds us that it may as well be the most ancient aspect of this activity.

Our fascination with maps and especially our time Venice spent mostly looking into the city's many graphical representations, and even our experience of the rare event of an aqua alta in July, led us to stop and enjoy this two sided map that illustrates the situation of Venice and Florence after the floods of November 4, 1966. To quote the author of the map "the flood [...] generated a tabula rasa in both spatial and temporal terms" [source: www.groundfloorcrisis.net]

Radical Pedagogies: ACTION-REACTION-INTERACTION [ video ].

At this point we lacked the time to enjoy this project, which occupied one the central spaces. Besides, when we got there, there were no more copies left of the leaflets devised to be taken by the visitors; the stands had been ransacked. We still have the web site http://radical-pedagogies.com/. A few days before our visit, an American friend whom we met up with in Venice had pointed out, showing a certain disagreement, that most of the things in Monditalia followed this format, that it was all somewhat like flipping through a book: something calls your attention at the show, you jot down the website and then you proceed to do the research at home.

Sales Oddity.  Milano 2 and the Politics of Direct-to-home TV Urbanism [ video ] Andrés Jaque/Office for Political Innovation. 45° 29’ 56’’ N / 09° 15’ 57’’ E

This is the Best Research Project of the Biennale and as such it received the Silver Lion. It deserves the prize. The installation is flashy, colorful and fully reflects the television format and style of the Berlusconi of the eighties, which our generation experienced at its peak in Spain through Tele Cinco. The tulle model, unstable, floating and pierced by the lights of the projection, looks like it is about to fall a apart. It is held in place by tensors that bring to mind the models made out of strings and counterweights that abound in Spanish architectural tradition to calculate and design structures while also it also illustrates how inconsistent the architecture and cities of TV are. The project reveals a little known speculative, television-based urban planning. By the time we reached this stand—one of the last ones— we were a little tired, and the accelerated rhythm of the narrating voice makes it difficult to go too deeply into the story that accompanies the images, although the tangled repaltionship between the virtual world and urban reality comes across clearly. We wanted to sit down to take it in better, but a polite member of the security personnel reminded us that it was not allowed—there are also rules in the planning of events, exhibitions and shows.

Italian Limes [ video ] Folder. 46° 45’ 50’’ N / 10° 53’ 20’’ E

At the very end, you once again run into a map. This time it reflects the fluctuating border between Italy and Austria, which is redrawn over and over again due to the movement of a glacier. You can even take a souvenir of this project, a map drawn in real time with the border as it stands at that precise moment. We took one, of course. A model sits next to the plotter, upon it a 3D projection shows the changing border from 1920 to our day.

¿Has estado? ¿coincides? ¿discrepas? ¿añades? ¿quitas?

This was our compressed stroll through Monditalia. We hope you have enjoyed our kauh-selection. Take it as it is, a mere ambling experience.

Have you been there? Do you agree? Disagree? Would you add anything? Would you delete anything?
